Description:

To Freedom! is a siege game, a board game of will, endurance and tactics between the besieged freedom fighters and the besieging imperial forces, who have come to crush the rebellion in Messolonghi. This conflict is presented through a dramatic story of the siege of the Greek holy city (Mesolongi) by the Ottomans during the Greek Revolution. The battle takes place on two maps: one showing the actual city and the forces involved in the siege, and a second with the surrounding areas, highlighting the support each provides to both players. A 90-120 minute 2-person tabletop offering an experiential experience of history. This workshop presented how history can be researched and taught differently and also, how to bend the rules to test a board game in classroom.
