The "MOOC Middelnederlands" aims to upen up Middle Dutch literature by making a series of online lectures on the subject freely available online. These introductory lectures entail the highlights of Dutch literature in the Middle Ages and aim to adress the widest possible audience. To achieve this, the courses expect no prior knowledge on the subject from their students. As a result, these courses form an extremely suitable tool for teaching Middle Dutch literature in highschools and higher education.

The courses were developed by teams of internationally renowned experts in the field, and represent the state of the art in the field accordingly. In addition, these courses showcase rare materials such as manuscripts and early prints that are only rarely alowed to leave the vaults of the prominent libraries that hold them. The courses can be freely viewed, downloaded, and shared under a CC-BY-NC License.
