EAGLE, the Europeana network of Ancient Greek and Latin Epigraphy, is a best-practice network financed by the European Commission, under the ICT policy of its Competitiveness and Innovation Programme (CIP - ICT PSP). EAGLE provides a single, user-friendly portal to the inscriptions of the Ancient World, a massive resource for both the scholarly and the curious. The EAGLE Best Practice Network is part of Europeana, the European digital library, a multi-lingual online collection of millions of digitised items from European museums, libraries, archives and multimedia. EAGLE gathers in a single readily-searchable portal more than 1.5 million items from 25 EU countries, as well as a number of countries in the east and south Mediterranean region. The project makes the vast majority of the surviving inscriptions of the Greco-Roman world available to the public, complete with essential information about them and, for all the most important ones, a translation.
